How to pick up where you left off after a break
The short version: Opsis is the interface for your work. It knows what you're doing and helps right where you are, with a tap. It sits on top of every app you use, and it helps before you think to ask. Write the next physical action before you stand up, reopen the same file first (not the inbox), and tap. The file, the brief and the last decision are already there.
Microsoft is now advertising “pick up where you left off” inside Copilot. As of October 2026 that path is rolling out through enterprise/Frontier and Copilot+ PCs. Ordinary laptops need a different app.
How it compares.
Ways to pick up a thread after a break
| Approach | What you get back | Works without Copilot+ | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opsis | Named sessions, sources, and a draft of the next step in the app you are in | Yes | You choose which apps are shared. Not a video replay. |
| A two-line “next action” note | Whatever you remembered to write | Yes | Fails when the break is unexpected |
| Copilot Home / Windows Recall | Microsoft's “pick up work right where you left off” wording on Copilot Home; Recall searches screen snapshots | No. Copilot+ / enterprise rollout as of Oct 2026. | Off by default on school and work PCs for Recall |
| Rewind / Limitless | Searchable screen and audio history | Was Mac-first | Capture stopped 19 December 2025 |

Who it's for.
Anyone who loses the plot after a lecture, a meeting, dinner or a weekend. Students first, then anyone whose work is spread across apps.
Your data.
Opsis only follows the apps you share. Private windows and password managers are never recorded. When assistance is on, content from those apps is processed in the cloud, encrypted in transit and at rest. There is zero data retention with our AI providers. You can pause, disconnect a source or delete your history whenever you like. Read the privacy policy · How Opsis handles data.
A resume routine that doesn't need new hardware
Before a planned break: leave the document open on the unfinished sentence, and write the next action in that sentence (“Next: plot specimen 2”). After an unplanned break: don't open chat, email or Canvas first. Open the document you were in, then tap. The session is still there. Then take one small step so the restart is real.
If you use ChatGPT for the assignment, don't start a new chat and re-paste the brief if Opsis already has the session. Re-explaining is how the break gets expensive.
FAQ
What was I working on yesterday?
If Opsis was running and the apps were shared, a tap brings back the named session. It isn't a film of your screen. If it wasn't installed yet, your OS recent-files list is the fallback. That remembers files, not the decision you were in the middle of.
Is this the same as Copilot “pick up where you left off”?
Same phrase, different product. Copilot's Home and future “files and recent activity” features are Microsoft's, and in October 2026 they were described as enterprise/Frontier and Copilot+ first. Opsis is a separate Mac and Windows app for ordinary PCs.
